HEIMSTATT YIPOTASH: Mechanismos De Control CD HANDS
After many a release, the tongue twistingly named Heimstatt Yipotash are back once again on the tremendous Hands Productions, with obscure and accessible electronics that meld well with variable beat-play; ‘Diez Segundos’ being a fine example of this from the off.
Pace was the surprising factor with this album. I expected everything to boot off and it isn’t until mid way through ‘Que Se Veyan Todos’ that it picks up momentum, with clinical beats eventually speeding up and scratching vocals filtering through the mix.
Yipotash are an odd breed if truth-be-told; everything is well done, but there isn’t anything that makes you jump out of your seat. The controlled machine that is this album works just like one, churning out beats and complicated percussive programming elements with effective electronics and carefully selected vocal samples. The main issue for me is that whilst everything is done so competently, it all feels a tad soulless.
At 14 tracks, ‘Mechanismos De Control’ is a value for money lengthy affair, that is a great addition for the completest amongst you who relishes every release from this label. Yipotash do have momentary flashes of excellence, but overall remain as a steady offshoot industrial act rather than game changers.
