MASCHINENKRIEGER KR52 VS DISRAPTOR: Rotten Years CD HANDS
Still for me, one of the most ludicrously titled artists ever, there’s probably no better example of an act defining what the old school aesthetic the Hands label is revered for. On ‘RotTEN Years’ (get it?), you are in for a long hall of simplistic, yet effective pure distorted beat, powernoise from start to finish.
I do find it hard to review music form this genre nowadays when it’s done on such a fashion. The songs are rarely bad; in fact they are the epitome for me of what real industrial music sounds like. It’s just that there is little to say track by track that would make any sense, or indeed reflect any concept that might be in play.
This latest output is once again one of those Ronseal moments where it does exactly what it says on the tin. You want punishing beats and noise…you got it.
I have momentary needs for music like this in my life, usually when something winds me up. The unfortunate position MKR52 vs Disraptor have got themselves into, is that they bring little else other than what they state to be (not always a bad thing I may add), but when there are many other acts out there producing something more cohesive and tangible to latch onto (indeed from their own label), all I want to do is archive this project into file marked ‘not moving forward’; such is the drastic need for the inclusion of something extra to make them more relevant to 2013. Old school yes, but we have plenty of that already, and better.
